Baby girl is here...Now that we are a family of 5 I'm going to need more support and encouragement from other homeschooling families. That's why I'm teaming up with a few good friends to form a new Homeschool Co-op. Have you ever thought?: "Man, I wish someone else could teach science today" or "I wish my kids could work with other students on this project" or "I'm struggling with teaching this math concept I wish I had someone to talk to, I could use some guidance." This is where I've been for while now and I'm certain this new homeschool co-op is that answer I've been looking for. Our new co-op will offer Eagle (my 5 year old) and Elephant (my 4 year old) the opportunity to create life long friendships and participate in hand-on group projects that they will love. I'll also have a chance to take a break from teaching a few days and week and I'll get encouragement from other mom/teachers. Co-op classes will include: Kindergarten and 1st grade level bible, geography, art, music, science, critical thinkings, foreign language, history, and theartre. If you are struggling to offer your student hands on projects, group activities, and a fun learning environment consider joining or starting your own homeschool co-op. Are you a part of a co-op? What to love about it? |

Happy New Year! 2016 is here and we are excited about what it brings. A number of new additions are on the way: New Baby: My family and I are excited to meet our new baby this February. Baby #3 is going to rock our world. Bringing a little more estrogen into our boy world. As you can image she is going to slow me down a bit (for a little while at least), so I'm adding a few homeschool families to the School on the Go team. New Team Members: I'm looking for other homeschool families to join the fun. Most of our trips have been designed to fit my students age and grade levels (preK - 1st grade). My goal is to find families who are willing to organize and coordinate trips that are designed to fit other age/grade ranges including: High School, Middle School, Elementary. We also looking families to write reviews about our adventures in exchange for free field trip admissions. New Adventures: I'm looking for new adventures to add to our list of field trips. My goal is to add at least one a month. I also want to think outside the box this year and add a number of non traditional homeschool adventures, i.e.: Service Projects, Treasure Hunts, ... Want to join the team or have field trip suggestions click here. Since starting the site I've received a number of requests for trips designed for older children. While I am working hard on finding more homeschool school adventures for families with Middle and High School students, I wanted to take the time to encouraged you to consider the benefits of multi-aged learning environments. Since homeschooling is naturally multi-aged I believe it’s a natural fit. Siblings have a built-in support community for education and play.
Here are 3 benefits of multi-aged learning environments I think you might appreciate:
Please let me know your thoughts, suggestions and concerns in the comments. I try to be teachable, moldable and useful so please know your feedback is important to me. Shanna |
